VAST Academy students are successful outside the classroom, too! Here’s a short list of accomplishments from the Academy’s 2016 graduating class:
Aryn Romera serves as secretary of the VAST Academy Eagles Club. She is described by program faculty as being “a role model example of a community college student: academics, service, and and an active member of society.”
Christina Roberts and four others are sponsoring a Houston Police Patrol Horse named Smash. She was one of only 35 recipients nationwide of the Organization for Autism Research Scholarship for 2015, and is active in Special Olympics and church activities.
Chris Vaughn, a member of the VAST Eagles Club, helped plan the Health &Beauty Expo, Ability Day, and the end of the semester celebratio
Nathaniel Lyons has completed an internship with the Westview School, where he spent time providing maintenance support and assisting the Speech Therapist in preparing instructional materials.
Kendal Tate has been accepted into the Texas A&M PATHS Certificate Program, which prepares graduates for careers as a Direct Support Professional working with people with disabilities.
